Hazard comes clean about 'disappointing' first year at Real Madrid

The Belgian footballer did not shy away from the fact that he failed to live up to the hype created by his arrival to the Bernabeu.

Life at the Bernabeu has not been what Eden Hazard expected, and he is the first to admit that he was not up to the expectations during his maiden season in Spain.

Speaking in an interview with Belgian news outlet RTBF, Hazard admitted that playing for Los Blancos has not been easy, but he remains confident about his chances to win the crowd during his second year.

"My first season in Spain has been bad, but not everything falls under that category. It was just a season to get to know my surroundings. It will be up to me to stay fit during the next season," Hazard said.

The Belgian captain went on about how and when fans can expect to see his best form.

People can start judging me during my second season. Meeting new people has been a great experience for me. I have four years left in my contract and I hope I can be fit enough to play like I want to," Hazard concluded.

Hazard played 15 games for Los Blancos in all comps, scoring only one goal and handing out two assists. Needless to say, Real Madrid fans expected more from him, but according to his words, the best may be yet to come.
