According to Defensa Central, West Ham United are interested in signing Real Madrid striker Mariano in January.
It’s claimed that Real have learned of West Ham’s interest in Mariano as well as teammate Luka Jovic as they seek a new striker.
This report claims that Real prefer to loan out Jovic and sell Mariano, believing that Jovic has more potential and just needs to regain some confidence.
However, Jovic may be more opening to leave in January, with a belief that it would have to be the perfect transfer for Mariano to leave.
Whether he thinks West Ham ticks his boxes remains to be seen, but they certainly seem to be keen on signing another striker in January.
Sebastien Haller hasn’t yet convinced David Moyes, and Michail Antonio may need more competition in the second half of the season.
Mariano, 27, has only played 14 minutes of action this season, and has only scored five goals in 27 games since re-signing from Lyon in 2018.
The Dominican Republic striker did though smash 21 goals in 45 games for Lyon in the 2017-18 campaign, showing his goalscoring ability – and West Ham would have to hope they can get that form out of him again.
