Real Madrid ask worst Galactico signing to leave the club this year

Real Madrid have decided to show the door to the club’s third-most expensive signing of the previous decade, only behind Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale.

Real Madrid signed Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019 at the back of a stellar campaign, which saw him notch 27 goals in all competitions during the 2018/19 campaign. The Whites spent a reported 65 million euros on his signing and also offered a six-year contract to the Serbian at the time of his signing.

Unfortunately, Jovic has done little to live up to the hype and has scored just twice for Los Merengues in the one and a half season that he has been part of. The 23-year-old reportedly has failed to settle into Spain and does not communicate in the language which most of his teammates use- which is why he has been left out as an outcast.

Zinedine Zidane himself does not seem to be impressed with Jovic’s work-rate and his persistent fitness issues. The Frenchman’s objection against him has seen Mariano Diaz rise above him in the pecking order, only below Karim Benzema. Real Madrid simply cannot afford to keep paying a player who adds little to the squad and have asked him to leave, according to Marca.

So far this season, Jovic has featured over just 208 minutes in all competitions and has had just two starts to his name- scoring or assisting no goal. The Serbian was probably a wrongly made signing by Florentino Perez as he has simply failed to live up to the billing since the one-off 2018/19 campaign, either with club or with country.

Jovic will unfortunately go down as one of the worst Galactico signings in the club’s history, especially due to the price that was spent on procuring him. One of the major problems that Madrid will face while selling him is finding a suitor who will pay as much wage as they do, because it is difficult to see any Champions League club vest interest in him.
