Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could improve his side when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is lobbying for the signing of Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr, according to reports. The Br azil international has struggled for form under Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu this season. And with the La Liga giants eyeing Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, they could agree to let the winger go.
Liverpool went into the season aiming to win the Premier League title for the second season on the trot.
But Sunday’s chastening 4-1 defeat to Manchester City at Anfield means they’re now eight points behind Pep Guardiola’s side, who also have a game in hand.
Mohamed Salah has found the net 22 times this season from 32 appearances - but the rest of Liverpool’s attackers have failed to kick on.
Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino have managed a combined total of 26 goals across all competitions and, as a result, the Reds have been linked with several attackers.
And Spanish website OkDiario claim Klopp is pushing Liverpool into signing Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr.
The Br azil international only arrived at the Bernabeu two-and-a-half years ago touted as the next big thing.
But the Samba star has struggled for consistency this season, managing just three goal involvements from 18 league matches.
Real are keen to sign Mbappe from PSG at the end of the campaign, with the 2018 World Cup winner yet to sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes.
And they’re said to be happy that Liverpool are interested in Vinicius.
However, they’ll insist on a buyback clause as part of any deal - like they’ve done with Sergio Reguilon at Tottenham.
The Spain international was permitted to move to the Premier League but only after Real ensured they have control over his long-term future.
