Achraf Hakimi open to future Real Madrid return

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi is open to returning to Real Madrid in the future, as per his agent Alejandro Camano.

As quoted by Spanish publication AS, Achraf Hakimi’s agent Alejandro Camano has said that the 22-year-old would be open to a return to Real Madrid in the future. The Moroccan defender has most joined Paris Saint-Germain in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Hakimi progressed through the ranks at Real Madrid before breaking into their first-team setup in 2017. After a decent enough debut campaign playing second fiddle to Dani Carvajal, the youngster was hauled off to Borussia Dortmund on a two-year loan deal, with the player progressing rapidly in Bundesliga.

However, upon returning to Real Madrid at the end of his loan stint in Dortmund, Hakimi was sold almost immediately to Inter Milan. The 22-year-old continued to excel away from Real Madrid, and played a key role in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A triumph, producing a superb tally of seven goals and 10 assists in 37 league outings.

Inter Milan, though, were forced to cash in on Hakimi this summer owing to their difficult financial situation, which prompted them to raise funds to balance their books. As a result, the Moroccan defender has now joined another European heavyweights in Paris Saint-Germain, just one year after making his way to Camp Nou.

However, before he has even kicked a ball for PSG, Hakimi’s future has been a subject of disccusion from his agent Alejandro Camano, who has said that the young full-back is not averse to the idea of re-joining Real Madrid in the future if the opportunity presents itself, while also adding that Los Blancos had the right of first refusal to sign him this summer itself.

Camano said, "Real Madrid had the right of first refusal until PSG and Inter said that the operation was going to take place. We reserve the illusion and the dream that Achraf returns to Real Madrid because he was born in Madrid, grew up in Madrid and as a final goal, one day, he would like to play for Madrid."

Real Madrid were, in fact, briefly linked with the possibility of re-signing Hakimi before PSG and Chelsea emerged as the more serious suitors to secure his services in the ongoing summer transfer window. Eventually, Les Parisiens prevailed in the race to sign Hakimi.

As for Real Madrid, they do appear to be in the market for a right-back this summer, having been heavily linked with Diogo Dalot of late. In the wake of Alejandro Camano’s comments, though, it remains to be seen if the Merengues show any interest in re-signing Hakimi in the future.
