Gareth Bale speaks out about Real Madrid environment

Gareth Bale has opened up about his loan to Tottenham and the return to Real Madrid, claiming there is a better environment at the club now.

In a press conference while with the Welsh national side, as quoted by Transfer Market Web, Gareth Bale has spoken out about his time at Tottenham Hotspur and why he chose to rejoin his former club on loan. The 32-year-old has also said that the climate at Real Madrid is much better now for him than a year ago.

It is no secret that Gareth Bale did not enjoy the best of times at Real Madrid during Zinedine Zidane’s second spell. The two did not share a fine working relationship, which eventually crumbled entirely. As a result, it hardly came as a surprise that the Welsh international was regularly linked with a move away from the club during transfer windows.

The eventual exit did come last summer, albeit on loan, as Bale made his way back to Tottenham Hotspur, seven years after he first departed the north London club. The temporary move back to Tottenham worked out well for the Real Madrid ace, who was among the top goalscorers for Spurs last season.

Now back at Real Madrid, Bale appears to be a big part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans, especially after Real Madrid chose not to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window. And now, Bale has opened up about the move to Tottenham and his subsequent return from the loan spell.

Bale said, "I’ve always had an excellent relationship with Carlo ( Ancelotti). I had a good pre-season and a good start to the season. It is important to be in a good environment and it is the main reason why I went to Tottenham."

"I needed to switch off at that moment and going to Spurs was brilliant. It helped me a lot to recover. Now. I went back to Real where obviously there is a better climate for me from all points of view."

Having entered the final year of his contract with Real Madrid, Bale will be raring to prove himself, if he has an intention of staying put at the Spanish club beyond next summer’s transfer window. An intriguing season beckons for the veteran attacking ace.
