According to a shocking revelation by El Nacional, Florentino Perez has claimed that a Barcelona player has offered his signing to arch-rivals Real Madrid.
The player under question here is none other than Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman has had a difficult time at Barcelona, with injuries hindering every possibility of a good run.
The winger’s contract at Barcelona ends in June 2022. With less than a year left on his deal, Barcelona have been desperately attempting to agree on a renewal with the player.
However, Dembele has been procrastinating, and his agent, Moussa Sissoko, has shown no interest in the Catalans’ approaches either.
With the player becoming a free agent in the coming summer, his agent has been offering his services to multiple top European clubs across the world. While the main sides interested in his signature are Manchester United and Juventus, Real Madrid have been offered the chance to sign the player too.
However, Joan Laporta and Perez reportedly have a non-aggression pact after the cooperation on the Super League. And on that note, Madrid have ruled out his signing despite being interested in the profile.
Nevertheless, the fact that Dembele agreed to offer a proposal to Real Madrid has not been well received by the Barcelona board. The club are already angry with the winger for his reluctance to sign a new contract. This news adds salt to the wound.
The sporting department has set October as the deadline to close Dembele’s situation. Laporta has always been of the opinion that his renewal is key. Yet, such reluctance could likely result in the Ilaix Moriba treatment, where the Frenchman may have to spend the last months of his contract on the bench.
