Real Madrid 'accept' ambitious £33.4m offer for Eden Hazard from Newcastle

Real Madrid have reportedly accepted an offer from Premier League big spenders Newcastle United for out-of-favour star Eden Hazard as the Magpies look to buy their way out of relegation trouble.

Real Madrid have reportedly accepted a £33.4million offer for Eden Hazard from Newcastle - but the player has snubbed a move to St. James' Park.

Hazard, 30, has failed to impress in the Spanish capital since arriving from Chelsea in 2019 for £88million, with injuries, poor form and accusations of weight gain marring his time at the Bernabeu.

The Belgian was considered one of the best players in the world during his time at Stamford Bridge, but those days now seem long ago, with Hazard behind Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo in the pecking order at Madrid.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is keen to shift the winger in January, with the La Liga giants looking to raise funds for the potential arrival of Kylian Mbappe in the summer.

According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, that looked set to happen imminently after Perez accepted an offer of £33.4million, plus £8.3million in add-ons, from Newcastle.

The Magpies have already shown they're not afraid of splashing the cash as they attempt to climb away from the Premier League relegation zone.

Chris Wood joined from drop-zone rivals Burnley for £25million last week, while Kieran Tripper traded the Spanish capital for the north east in a £12million deal at the start of January.

Signing Hazard, a one-time Ballon d'Or nominee, would have been a real statement of intent from Newcastle's new owners as they attempt to buy their way out of relegation trouble.

But the 30-year-old has apparently snubbed the Magpies' approach, with the Spanish report claiming that the out-of-favour star will only leave for a 'big' club, such as Chelsea.

Hazard has long been linked with a return to his former home, where he scored 110 goals and provided 92 assists in a seven-year spell between 2012 and 2019.
