The futures of Ceballos and Asensio remain doubtful

Their contract end in 2023.

Every Real Madrid player is different, but Dani Ceballos and Marco Asensio are in a very similar situation, as their contracts are running until 2023 and their futures remain doubtful.

For the time being, they have no renewal offers, but what is clear to them is that they are not considered as undisputed starters under Carlo Ancelotti at Los Blancos.

Each, in their own ways, have contributed to the excellent season that Ancelotti's side are having. The former has scored a few goals and contributed in defence, with the latter emerging on the scene after he recovered from injury.

Asensio, who is collaborating with famous agent Jorge Menders, is currently behind Rodrygo Goes in Ancelotti's pecking order and the potential arrival of Kylian Mbappe could see him drop further back.

Should Real Madrid decide against renewing his contract, they will try to cash in on him in the summer, as Asensio has attracted interest from several teams.

Asensio is Real Madrid's third top scorer and he is expected to have the last say on his future. He has scored ten league goals in the 30 games he has played. In the Champions League, the Spanish winger has netted one goal in eight duels, with Rodrygo being Real Madrid's fourth-top scorer with nine goals.

Once he recovered from the ankle injury that kept him out of the team for the first five months of the season, Ceballos has been given some playing time.

Ancelotti has told him that he counts on him and that he could get minutes ahead of next season, but the presence of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Casemiro, Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga makes it almost impossible for him to get a starting spot.

The coach would be happy to count on Ceballos as the player who will complete Real Madrid's midfield. He considers the former Real Betis player as a professional with integrity, who works every day to the maximum, without complaining about his playing time.

In fact, Ceballos played despite being injured against Manchester City. He stayed on the pitch until the end, giving everything despite the discomfort he suffered as soon as he stepped on the pitch. He has appeared in fifteen games so far this season.

Ceballos wants to play and feel important, something that is not easy, but not impossible, at Real Madrid. In any case, Real Madrid's directors are clear that if either of the two leave in the next transfer window, they will not do so for free.
