Marcelo's new life after leaving Real Madrid

The former Real Madrid captain is not tempted by offers from Qatar or MLS.

Less than two months after leaving Real Madrid, Marcelo is closer to retirement than to continuing his extraordinary career as a footballer.

After leaving the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu with three titles in the 2021-22 season, the Br azilian has not been convinced by offers from Qatar or MLS, among others.

That means that the possibility of retirement is a strong one in the immediate future of the player with the most titles (25) in the history of Real Madrid.

Marcelo has long been preparing for life after football, laying the foundations for a career as a businessman.

Now, as his professional football career coming to an end, he can switch his focus to his interests off the field.

Marcelo currently owns two clubs, Azuriz, from the Br azilian Campeonato Paranaense, and Mafra, from the Portuguese second division.

He acquired the former in 2017 and more recently launched a European adventure, while Mafra belongs to the same group as the former and is considered by Marcelo as the ideal bridge between the Br azilian and European markets.

As for Azuriz, the idea of Marcelo and his partners is to promote its training set-up, an area in which the former Real Madrid player already has notable experience thanks to his 'Campus 12' project.

'Campus 12' is an initiative that, in collaboration with his brother-in-law, Caio Alves, he has been successfully developing for some time and which represents another of Marcelo's business activities.

Of the three Madrid players who finished their contracts on June 30, Marcelo was the only one who had an institutional farewell that matched his career.

The other two, Gareth Bale and Isco Alarcon, have already found destinations (Los Angeles FC and Sevilla, respectively), unlike Marcelo who, in any case, knows that Madrid's doors will always be open to him.

An eventual return to the club as an ambassador or institutional representative is also in Marcelo's future plans, and there is no shortage of professional incentives for him if, as it seems, he ends up hanging up his boots this summer.
