Real Madrid’s squad is clearly in need of some fresh faces, and one of the biggest holes that will need to be filled in the coming seasons is at centre-forward.
Karim Benzema has been the club’s first-choice striker for a long time and has done a great job at it. However, he is 35 now, and it is starting to look like age could be finally catching up to him.
Benzema has been suffering from a number of fitness issues this season. And Real Madrid can’t take any risks falling behind other top European clubs when it comes to their main striker for the future.
There are several players that could replace Benzema in order to secure Real Madrid’s future. According to rumours, the club might be planning a Galactico signing.
As reported by AS, Real Madrid have reactivated ‘Operation Haaland’ and consider him their priority signing for 2024. The transfer fee could sit somewhere between €220 million and €240 million.
Erling Haaland is a name that has been mentioned as a potential Real Madrid signing since he burst onto the scene at Red Bull Salzburg. Currently the leading scorer in the Premier League golden boot race with 28 goals for Manchester City, the Norwegian is clearly a clinical finisher in front of goal.
Haaland definitely fits the profile of a more traditional penalty box striker, which seems to be slowly be fading out of today’s game in place of more dynamic forwards. However, the Norwegian could definitely adapt his play style to fit Real Madrid and La Liga.
Haaland isn’t the only mega signing the club might have the chance to make in the summer of 2024. Not only is the Norwegian’s release clause rumoured to become active that summer, but Kylian Mbappe might become a free agent as well. And the French World Cup winner has always seemed destined to play for Los Blancos.
