Carlo Ancelotti could be Br azil-bound at the end of the ongoing season.
Now much to known about the Italian tactician’s priorities, and while he has repeatedly stressed on his desire to stay at the club, an exit would not come as a surprise.
Real Madrid are thus on the lookout for options should they be pressed to find a new manager in June.
Many names have been discussed from Raul Gonzalez to Xabi Alonso, but El Chiringuito bring a new name to the fore that went under the radar in recent months.
According to the Spanish outlet, Real Madrid see former manager and club legend Zinedine Zidane as a viable option should Ancelotti leave. In fact, the French tactician’s name is already under consideration.
Having already overseen some of the club’s best years during his two spells in Madrid, Zidane is one of the greatest managers in Real Madrid’s history.
Whether or not he is open to a third stint on the sidelines at the Santiago Bernabeu remains to be seen.
After all, his most recent spell ended in 2021 due to differences with the club’s hierarchy. Reports say the bridges have been mended, but only time will tell if Zidane is indeed on board with the idea.
Notably, the 51-year-old has not returned to coaching since stepping down from Real Madrid two years ago. He has had no dearth of options but is said to be waiting for the right opportunity.
Xabi Alonso is perhaps the closest competitor to Zidane in the race to coach Real Madrid. The Bayer Leverkusen coach is the board’s top target after his exploits in Germany.
Earlier this week, reports stated that he has a clause in his deal with the Bundesliga club to leave next summer if an offer from Real Madrid arrives.
It thus remains to be seen which route the administration at the Santiago Bernabeu prefers to tread.
