Rodrygo, Lunin react after Cadiz 0-3 Real Madrid: “We put in a pretty complete performance”

Real Madrid made easy work of Cadiz on Matchday 14 of La Liga EA Sports to finish the day as transient leaders.

Carlo Ancelotti’s lineup on the night consisted of changes galore, most forced considering the team’s dire injury situation.

Yet, Los Blancos did not stutter at any point in the game. They were the better team on the field for the larger part of the game and although Cadiz did have their chances, they could not capitalise on them.

Rodrygo Goes was the star on the night for Los Blancos, scoring twice and providing one assist against Cadiz. Speaking to the media after the game, the Br azilian starlet expressed his elation over the result.

"It was a tough game, but we played really well and controlled the game. I’m happy with the two goals, the assist, and, most importantly, the win."

Speaking about his opening strike at Nuevo Mirandilla, Rodrygo detailed the thoughts that ran in his mind in the build-up to the goal.

"I had no choice on the first goal because the two defenders closed in on me and the shot was all I could do. Then the ball went past me and I had time to get the shot off."

"It was a counterattack. Valverde played it to me and Bellingham moved to free up the space for me. I was then able to dribble and score the goal. I liked the first one better, but they were two great goals," he added on his second goal.

Having suffered a knee injury on international duty, many expected the young phenom to start on the bench against Cadiz.

Rodrygo revealed that he sailed on the same boat and found out the news of his starting only in the final minutes before the game, which came about due to Brahim Diaz falling ill.

"I only found out a few minutes before the warm-up. I thought I was going to sit out because I had a problem with my knee and my tooth. Then I had to play, but everything went well."

Finally, he elaborated on his bright run in recent games which includes five goals and four assists in just three appearances for Los Blancos.

"I’m at a good run. I’m working hard to score goals, provide assists and help the team as much as I can. I want to carry on like this."

Andriy Lunin also spoke to the media after the win over Cadiz. Speaking on the result, the Ukrainian shot-stopper insisted that the team dished out a comprehensive display.

"It was a good game, it’s always a difficult place to play, but what’s important is that we picked up the three points. We went out there to win, we put in a pretty complete performance and it was a well-deserved victory."

He added that the hectic schedule had a silver lining in that it helped the team reach a new level of confidence.

"When you’re playing one match after another, you get the feeling, the confidence and the tempo of the game. It’s a natural process."

Finally, the youngster emphasised the importance of maintaining a clean sheet, not only from a statistical standpoint but also from the perspective of the match.

"We’ve got great players. We create chances to score in every game and there is a collective commitment in defence not to concede goals. It’s easier to win when you don’t concede goals and then we have to make the most of the chances we get at the other end."
