Journalist Tomas Gonzalez-Martin has affirmed via El Debate that Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has chosen Real Madrid, although the condition of his transfer hinges on the fact that he must confirm his decision in January itself.
The journalist adds that the Frenchman must finalize the signing of his contract with Real Madrid in January, however, a potential hurdle could lie in the delayed decision-making of his parents.
As of today, the forward’s stature in the market has somewhat decreased, with Erling Haaland, Vinicius Jr., and Jude Bellingham now surpassing him, and now according to his lawyer, the optimal resolution could be a move to Real Madrid.
Mbappe’s advisors strongly assert that if a professional representative had guided his career, he would currently be a part of Real Madrid and would not have extended his contract with PSG.
However, his mother, Fayza Lamari, intervened and assumed the role of his proxy and continued at PSG — a decision now viewed as a significant error. Mbappe, though reluctant to admit it openly, regrets that particular choice in his career trajectory.
Now, the player has realised that his destiny lies with Real Madrid. With his contract set to conclude at the end of the season, the window to shape his future opens in January.
However, the decisive step must be taken during this crucial month; otherwise, Real Madrid will actively pursue Haaland as an alternative.
Gonzalez-Martin shares an inside story by claiming that three years ago, Mbappe hired a lawyer Delphine Verheiden to reshape his destiny.
The forward made it clear that in order to succeed in Europe, he needed to commit to signing with Real Madrid.
Now, he knows that it’s a now-or-never situation mostly because Madrid will go for Haaland if he delays his decision further. If he follows the protocol, Real Madrid will show interest but if there’s a delay, the moment will be lost.
Amidst all this, it has also come to light that PSG have offered a fresh renewal. The previous offer stood at €1 billion over a three-year period, yet he declined.
While a renewal with PSG would immerse him in a sea of millions, he does not want to focus on money. Rather, he wants to leave a mark in European football.
