The likes of Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler were the highlights of Real Madrid’s transfer business in the summer of 2023.
At the same time, though, the club brought in some other young talents to reinforce the youth and Castilla ranks. One of those players was Quique Ribes, who was signed from the Valencia youth academy on a free transfer.
Now, as per a report from journalist Rodra P (h/t RM4Arab), Real Madrid are very happy with the performances showcased by Ribes in the short time he has been at the club.
The 19-year-old centre-back started out with Real Madrid C upon arrival in the summer but has quickly been promoted to the Castilla team.
Ribes has already featured in six league games for Castilla in the RFEF Primera Division and has performed well, with manager Raul Gonzalez understood to be very impressed by the young talent.
Ribes’ contract with Real Madrid runs until 2025, but if he continues to build on his recent performances, a new, longer deal might not be out of the question.
Injuries to defensive personnel in the first-team setup have led to call-ups to the likes of Alvaro Carrillo and Raul Asencio this season. And Ribes will be hoping to follow in their footsteps, although there is still a long way to go for the 19-year-old defensive starlet.
