Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé have yet to agree officially on a contract, but it appears that the situation is a matter of when, not if.
On Monday, Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano provided a boost to the Spanish club.
Although there’s no reported agreement yet between Mbappé and Real Madrid, there’s no need to worry from the Spanish side. Romano wrote in his column for CaughtOffside that the Frenchman has no intention to talk with any club. As a result, don’t expect any last-minute change of heart from the 25-year-old.
"I can say once again that Kylian Mbappe has no intention to hold talks or negotiations with any other club," Romano wrote. "This is the best news possible for Real Madrid as everything remains advanced, everything is being prepared."
"So why did Mbappe say, in his latest press conference, that he doesn’t have anything to announce? Because the plan has always been for him to announce his decision together with Paris Saint-Germain as soon as he signs the official contract with Real Madrid. At that moment, we will have an announcement, so we have to be patient but everything is heading in that direction."
There’s more information on PSG’s end as the club should be protected financially with the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s departure. The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana reported that PSG expects Mbappé to compensate the club for his exit.
Alongside the €80 million loyalty bonus, Mbappé is anticipated to make further financial compromises. PSG is also eyeing a portion of his signing bonus from his anticipated move to Real Madrid.
