Real Madrid Legend Toni Kroos Roasts FC Barcelona: ‘We Could’ve Beaten Them 4-0’

Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos roasted FC Barcelona by saying Los Blancos could have 'beaten them 4-0' on his podcast.

Carlo Ancelotti's men put one hand on the La Liga trophy by winning 3-2 against their bitter rivals in El Clasico last Sunday.

Jude Bellingham scored an injury time winner in the Bernabeu, which guaranteed an 11-point advantage with just six points to spare.

According to Kroos, however, his team could have made far easier work of the world's biggest derby, as he explained on the Einfach mal Luppen podcast he hosts with his brother Felix.

"It was actually a game that if we had played well, we could have beaten them 4-0. They [Barca] didn't really have much drive, especially in the first half," Kroos stated.

"It wasn't a good match in terms of level, it has to be said. On both sides. Both teams made a lot of mistakes and lost a lot of balls," the German added.

Of his personal tally in Clasicos, Kroos noted that "we won 14, drew 3 and lost 11. I worked it out today.".

"Sometimes I was behind. After three or four years I was definitely way behind, even losing 4-0 at home. I think in the last two or three years we've won six or seven in a row."

Kroos also shed light on the mind games of Ancelotti, widely-regarded as one of football's best man-managers, in order to rally his troops.

"Interestingly, Carlo said last week before the Mallorca game: 'If we win, we're done.' [i.e. Madrid has won La Liga]"

"'I lied to you.' If we win next week, it's over!'" Ancelotti then said, following a 1-0 win in Son Moix.

"And now [after El Clasico] he has said three things: 'First of all, congratulations. Secondly, it will all be over when we beat Real Sociedad on Friday. The third: two days of rest.'"

As Kroos said, Madrid was given two days' rest as a reward from Ancelotti for winning El Clasico.

Real Sociedad awaits on Friday, and next week the club from the capital travels to Kroos' former employers Bayern Munich for the first leg of a Champions League semifinal.
