Real Madrid future star Enrick talks goal at Santiago Bernabeu, fight against racism

Endrick, the young football sensation set to join Real Madrid this summer, recently sat down for an interview on the TV Globo, where he talked about several aspects, including his goal for Br azil at Santiago Bernabeu.

During the conversation, he opened up about the intense pressure that comes with competing at the highest level of the sport. He also shared insights into his personal life, discussing his family dynamics.

"I want to play. Bringing responsibility to the pitch is horrible," he said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

"I felt that you feel very heavy and you need to feel light, happy, really like a kid. Just like my brother Noah (4 years old), no responsibility for anything," he added.

The young forward expressed that he wants to have fun on the field and he perceives it as a playground.

"You have to go into the field to be happy, like a kid in an amusement park. If I had to go to Disneyland, I had to have fun. I took that advice for life. I think when I go into the field, it’s my playground."

Br azilians such as Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Marcelo and Dani Alves have faced events of racism quite constantly in Spanish football. While talking about that aspect, Endrick said that he would try not to get affected by what people say.

"One thing my mother always told me was to stay calm and not let things get me down. I don’t have white skin, I actually have black skin."

"It was God who gave me that shade. I’m not going to let these kinds of things shake me up, but rather strengthen me."

He went on to add that every time he scores a goal, he thinks of his family. "When I score a goal I think a lot about my family because I know that having a good house, food on the table, and a good school, was in my hands."

"This happened when I started to make a good career in Palmeiras. When I had the first contract, I was able to give it to my family, then that weight was lifted."

In March, Endrick scored the match-winner against England in an international friendly and that match, interestingly, was played at his new home Santiago Bernabeu.

While talking about it, the young forward expressed that it was a magical moment for him. "It was a wonderful goal."

"When I scored it and was sliding in, I saw a fan with the Spain jersey in front of me and saying – I understand a little bit of Spanish – that here he was waiting for me and that I am going to be a great player."

"I did my celebration, gladly, I am Endrick. This image has been in my head since I scored the goal," he added.

Lastly, he also admitted that he did not think he would receive an international call-up so early in his career. "It came much earlier. I talked to my father, I wasn’t expecting it, not at all."
