Primera Liga reports

Brief reports of Primera Liga soccer matches played on Sunday:

ESPANYOL 0 CELTA VIGO 4

Celta Vigo claimed an all too easy win over bottom club Espanyol, who had Pierre Wome sent off after 35 minutes and finished with nine men when keeper Erwin Lemmens saw red 15 minutes from time.

French midfielder Peter Luccin opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a penalty after a handball from Alberto Lopo and further goals from Savo Milosevic, Alexander Mostovoi and Jandro wrapped up victory.

REAL BETIS 3 ALBACETE 2

Betis were made to work hard for their victory against much improved Albacete, who took the lead in the 12th minute with a header from Mikel.

Betis hit back to move 2-1 ahead before halftime as Tote scored on 42 minutes and then won a penalty that Fernando converted.

Capi made it 3-1 five minutes after the restart when he took a long ball forward and beat the onrushing Carlos Roa. Parri pulled one back for the visitors.

REAL MALLORCA 1 BARCELONA 3

Barcelona claimed their first win in five league games with a much-improved performance.

Frank Rijkaard's side took the lead with a Javier Saviola strike that just crossed the line after nine minutes and Ronaldinho made it 2-0 with a cracking free kick after 23 minutes.

Philip Cocu headed in a Thiago Motta cross early in the second half and Barca held on despite conceding a sloppy late goal to Fernando Correa and then having Gabri sent off.

REAL SOCIEDAD 1 OSASUNA 0

Darko Kovacevic struck 14 minutes from time to give Real Sociedad their first Primera Liga victory since September 21.

Sociedad, heavily beaten by Juventus in the Champions League in mid-week, dominated but could not find a route to goal until Kovacevic headed in Aitor Lopez Rekarte's cross.

VALLADOLID 2 ATHLETIC BILBAO 0

Valladolid brought Bilbao's five-match unbeaten run to an end with a comfortable win. Francisco Sousa opened the scoring in the 14th minute with an unhurried finish at the far post, followed by Ariza Makukula nine minutes after the break.

VILLARREAL 3 SEVILLA 3

Villarreal came from behind three times to make it four draws from four home league games this season.

Sonny Anderson got two, including a crashing left-foot strike from outside the area, with Rodolfo Arruabarrena clinching the draw a minute from time.

Francisco Casquero, Jose Antonio Reyes from the penalty spot and Carlos were the Sevilla scorers.
