Champions League matches on Tuesday

Team news and probable line-ups for Tuesday's second leg ties in the Champions League's first knockout round.

CHELSEA v VfB STUTTGART

With Chelsea's erratic home form in the Champions League, Claudio Ranieri is likely to use his most experienced side. Chelsea have won all their away fixtures but lost to Besiktas and managed only a 0-0 draw against Sparta Prague at home in the group stage.

Chelsea have had a 10-day rest since their last league match, a 1-0 win away over Manchester City, which will have given recovering injury victims -- keeper Carlo Cudicini (groin) and winger Damien Duff (Achilles) more time. Midfielders Juan Sebastian Veron (back) and Emmanuel Petit (knee) are still out.

Trailing 1-0 after the first leg in Germany, Stuttgart's morale has been boosted by a 2-0 Bundesliga win at Borussia Dortmund on Saturday that keeps them third in the table. It was a convincing win and their first away from home since November.

They should be at full strength against Chelsea after coach Felix Magath said midfielder and captain Zvonimir Soldo, who was substituted on Saturday with a knee problem, would be fit.

Germany striker Kevin Kuranyi should start despite a goal drought since January. Hungary striker Imre Szabics, in poor form, was expected to be replaced by Br azilian Cacau.

Probable teams:

Chelsea: 23-Carlo Cudicini, 2-Glen Johnson, 26-John Terry, 13-William Gallas, 18-Wayne Bridge, 14- Geremi, 4- Claude Makelele, 8-Frank Lampard, 11-Damien Duff, 7-Adrian Mutu, 21-Hernan Crespo.

Stuttgart: 1-Timo Hildebrand, 2-Andreas Hinkel, 3-Boris Zivkovic, 5- Marcelo Bordon, 21-Philipp Lahm, 20-Zvonimir Soldo, 6-Fernando Meira, 15-Alexander Gleb, 7-Silvio Meissner, 22-Kevin Kuranyi, 18-Cacau.

Referee: Kim Milton Nielsen (Denmark).

MANCHESTER UNITED v PORTO

Gary Neville returns to United's defence, but skipper Roy Keane serves a one-match ban after his red card in United's 2-1 defeat in Portugal two weeks ago.

Neville, halfway through a domestic ban, is available for European games and could be joined by France's Mikael Silvestre, who has missed United's last three games with a knee injury.

French striker Louis Saha returns after being cup-tied for Saturday's FA Cup win over Fulham, but South African defender Quinton Fortune is out after knee surgery.

Porto midfielder Pedro Mendes has joined Derlei Silva, Marco Ferreira and Cesar Peixoto on their injury list. Mendes suffered a thigh injury in Porto's 4-1 league win over Belenenses on Friday and will be replaced by Russian Dimitri Alenitchev.

Wingers Sergio Conceicao and Br azilian Maciel Cunha are ineligible, but midfielder Francisco Costinha returns from suspension.

Coach Jose Mourinho, whose team are unbeaten domestically and top of the table, ruled out a defensive strategy at Old Trafford, saying: "I'm not going to put the bus in front of the goal."

Probable teams

United: 14-Tim Howard, 3-Philip Neville, 2-Gary Neville, 6-Wes Brown, 22-John O'Shea, 7- Cristiano Ronaldo, 8-Nicky Butt, 18-Paul Scholes, 11-Ryan Giggs, 9-Louis Saha, 10-Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Porto: 99-Vitor Baia, 22-Paulo Ferreira, 2-Jorge Costa, 4-Ricardo Carvalho, 8-Nuno Valente, 6-Francisco Costinha, 18-Maniche Ribeiro, 15-Dimitri Alenitchev, 10-Deco Souza, 19-Carlos Alberto, 77-Benni McCarthy.

Referee: Valentin Ivanov (Russia).

OLYMPIQUE LYON v REAL SOCIEDAD

Lyon, second in Ligue 1 and bidding for their first ever Champions League quarter-final slot, have a 1-0 lead from the first leg but major injury problems at the back.

Br azilian centre back Claudio Cacapa is out after knee surgery, right back Anthony Reveillere (calf) will also be missing and left back Jeremie Berthod is doubtful after sustaining a head injury in training last Thursday.

Inspirational playmaker Eric Carriere is out after a knee injury in Friday's 4-0 demolition of AC Ajaccio.

Sociedad coach Raynald Denoueix is likely to field his most attacking side, with Darko Kovacevic and Nihat Kahveci up front, backed by Valery Karpin and fit-again winger Javi de Pedro.

Sociedad slipped down to 14th place in the Primera Liga after a 1-1 draw with Osasuna on Saturday and are just five points clear of the relegation zone.

Keeper Sander Westerveld, who is recovering from surgery on a fractured finger, and full-back Agustin Aranzabal, who has a broken nose, are both out. The reliable Alberto will cover for Westerveld in goal and Boris could come into the defence.

Probable teams:

Lyon: 1-Gregory Coupet, 2-Eric Deflandre, 3-Edmilson, 20-Patrick Mueller, 11-Florent Malouda, 7-Mahammadou Diarra, 8-Juninho Pernambucano, 24-Vikash Dhorasoo, 18-Peguy Luyindula, 14-Sidney Govou, 9-Giovane Elber.

Real Sociedad: 1-Alberto, 14- Aitor Lopez Rekarte, 2-Bjorn Tore Kvarme, 6-Gabriel Schurrer, 23-Boris, 4-Xabi Alonso, 18-Bittor Alkiza, 8-Valery Karpin, 10-Javi de Pedro, 15-Nihat Kahveci, 9-Darko Kovacevic.

Referee: Mike Riley (England).

JUVENTUS v DEPORTIVO CORUNA

Juventus have only 14 first-team players available, with injuries to striker David Trezeguet, midfielder Enzo Maresca and wing-back Gianluca Zambrotta hitting an already weakened squad, with defender Mark Iuliano picking up an injury during the 3-2 weekend win over Brescia.

Midfielder Antonio Conte is suspended, with his place expected to go to Alessio Tacchinardi, while Ciro Ferrara will bolster the defence.

Deportivo look to have blown their domestic title hopes after a 3-0 defeat away to Valencia on Saturday left them 10 points behind leaders Real Madrid with 11 games left to play.

Javier Irureta will have to reshuffle his defence for the return to Europe, with left-back Enrique Romero a late absence because of 'flu. Wing-back Joan Capdevila could replace him.

Otherwise, he is likely to stick with the side that dominated the first leg, with Diego Tristan in a lone striker's role and Uruguayan Walter Pandiani on the bench.

Probable teams:

Juventus: 1-Gianluigi Buffon, 21-Lilian Thuram, 2-Ciro Ferrara, 23-Nicola Legrottaglie, 4-Paolo Montero, 16-Mauro Camoranesi, 3-Alessio Tacchinardi, 18-Stephen Appiah, 11-Pavel Nedved, 10-Alessandro Del Piero, 20-Marco Di Vaio.

Deportivo: 1-Jose Molina, 15-Joan Capdevila, 14-Jorge Andrade, 4-Noureddine Naybet, 12-Lionel Scaloni, 18-Victor, 6-Mauro Silva, 8-Sergio, 19-Albert Luque, 21-Juan Carlos Valeron, 9- Diego Tristan.
