Real Madrid general manager Arrigo Sacchi has sought advice from Holland coach Marco van Basten over his interest in AZ Alkmaar winger Danny Landzaat.
Landzaat is being considered by Sacchi as a replacement for Santiago Solari, who signed for Inter Milan earlier this month.
Sacchi coached Van Basten when the pair were together at AC Milan and spoke with the Holland coach this week about Landzaat.
Sources told AS that Van Basten confirmed Sacchi's impression that the 29 year-old Landzaat's versatility would be a huge asset to Vanderlei Luxemburgo's squad this season. Real are convinced AZ will sell Landzaat for "around £2.5 million to £3.5 million".
"For the left-side of midfield there are four or five names in Sacchi's portfolio," said a source, "and Landzaat is one of them."
