Primera Liga reports

Brief reports of matches played in the Primera Liga this weekend:

ATLETICO MADRID 0 REAL ZARAGOZA 1

Atletico dominated at the Calderon but once again were made to pay for their lack of bite upfront.

Zaragoza keeper Cesar produced a superb point-blank save before halftime to stop Luciano Galletti giving Atletico the lead and Oscar earned the visitors the win when he headed home three minutes from the end after his first shot spun up off a defender's foot.

CELTA VIGO 1 SEVILLA 2

Celta took an early lead when Br azilian midfielder Nene fired a low shot past keeper Andres Palop, but Danish midfielder Christian Poulsen equalised with a piledriver just after the half hour.

Sevilla's Br azilian winger Adriano helped himself to the winner just after the hour when he steered the ball past keeper Jose Manuel Pinto after Antonio Nunez lost possession outside the area.

Celta had the chance to level the match three minutes from time but Palop saved Fernando Baiano's spot kick and Pablo Contreras sent his follow-up wide of the post. The win pushed Sevilla up to second.

GETAFE 2 DEPORTIVO CORUNA 0

A third win in a row for Bernd Schuster's side who have made another impressive start to the season.

Manu del Moral put the Madrid side in front when he steered in on the half-volley in the 10th minute.

Fellow midfielder Nacho made sure of the victory, adding the finishing touch to a slick passing move involving Sergio Pachon and Francisco Casquero midway through the second half.

LEVANTE 0 ESPANYOL 0

Levante have not won in four and Espanyol have now gone five since their last victory.

Levante midfielder Olivier Kapo had the best opportunity when he was put clear in the second half but he fluffed his chance with just the keeper to beat.

OSASUNA 1 ATHLETIC BILBAO 1

Bilbao keeper Inaki Lafuente kept his side in the match with a fine second-half display.

The visitors took the lead on the half hour when midfielder Igor Gabilondo sent a diving header back across the goal and past keeper Ricardo after a fine cross from Joseba Etxeberria.

Osasuna striker Roberto Osasuna equalised early in the second half, stabbing home after good work from Valdo to score his side's first goal in four league outings.

REAL BETIS 0 REAL MALLORCA 1

Mallorca midfielder Bosko Jankovic condemned Javier Irureta's Betis to a sixth defeat of the season when he drilled a free kick under keeper Pedro Contreras 13 minutes from time.

Betis had to play most of the match with 10 men after Uruguayan defender Daniel Lembo was harshly sent off for tugging the shirt of Mallorca striker Juan Arango in midfield in the 34th minute.

REAL SOCIEDAD 0 VILLARREAL 1

An inauspicious start for Miguel Angel Lotina, who took over as Sociedad coach when Jose Mari Bakero was sacked earlier in the week.

The Basque side looked as though they had done enough to deserve a point, but their hopes were dashed when Villarreal defender Rodolfo Arruabarrena bundled in a Juan Roman Riquelme corner at the far post eight minutes from time.

Sociedad are the only side in the league yet to win a game.

Played Saturday:

BARCELONA 3 RECREATIVO HUELVA 0

A flattering scoreline for Barca who struggled to find their usual rhythm against a confident Recre side.

The Catalans were gifted the lead when the referee gave them a penalty just before the half hour after Eidur Gudjohnsen went to ground when Mario touched his shirt as he ran into the area.

Ronaldinho smashed home from the spot and struck again early in the second half when he scored a rare headed goal. Midfielder Xavi made it 3-0 three minutes later with another great header.

RACING SANTANDER 1 VALENCIA 0

Racing notched up their first home win of the season thanks to their little and large strike partnership of Pedro Munitis and Nikola Zigic.

Munitis looped a header over Santiago Canizares after giant Serbia striker Zigic nodded on a lofted pass into the area 11 minutes after the break.

Valencia ended the game with 10 men when substitute midfielder Mario Regueiro was sent off for a second yellow card in injury time.

GIMNASTIC TARRAGONA 1 REAL MADRID 3

A somewhat fortunate win for Real who fell behind when midfielder Abel Buades scored from the penalty spot after Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro had brought down Ariza Makukula.

Real equalised on the stroke of halftime when Roberto Carlos drilled a shot under the wall after a free kick and Ivan Helguera's header put them ahead four minutes after the break.

In-form Robinho scored the best goal of the game with an improvised volley four minutes from time after a fine passing move involving Sergio Ramos, Mahamadou Diarra and Raul.
