Real Madrid need to add another striker to their ranks in the near future.
Karim Benzema is 35 years of age and struggling with one injury issue after another. On the other hand, there is no real cover option for him at the club at this point of time either. And Mariano Diaz, the only other recognised centre-forward in the squad, is expected to leave in the summer when his contract runs out.
At the same time though, as Benzema showed with his performance against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League. He still is a top class striker on his day. Thus, the club could still get something out of him for the next couple of years.
In that situation, it might make sense for them to sign a young striker instead and have him be the back-up option to Benzema. So that when the Frenchman is ready to move on, he can come in and start leading the line for Los Blancos. And it looks like the club might have such a plan.
As reported by la Repubblica, Rasmus Hojlund has attracted the interest of Real Madrid and Arsenal, and they are preparing offers for the Atalanta striker.
Hojlund has been highly rated for quite some time now and he has even been hailed by some as the next Haaland. It remains to be seen how that goes for him.
It is just this month that Hojlund turned 20 years of age. And he is starting to impress for Atalanta now, after a slow start. He has scored 5 goals in his last 8 appearances in Serie A.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Hojlund has scored 7 goals and provided 2 assists in 21 appearances for Atalanta till now, while playing 1106 minutes of football in total.
