Real Madrid will reportedly look to sign 32-year-old Spanish international Rodrigo Moreno following Leeds United’s Premier League relegation.
According to a report by Spanish outlet COPE, Rodrigo Moreno is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The 32-year-old is available for €3.5 million after the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League. And the Merengues are plotting a cut-price move for the Leeds United attacker.
Rodrigo Moreno spent his formative years with various Spanish clubs before graduating from the Real Madrid Academy. But he rose to prominence during his five-year spell with Benfica, scoring 45 goals in 120 appearances. And the Spanish international then saw his stock rise after moving to Valencia.
The 32-year-old was with Los Che for half a decade before joining Leeds United in August 2020. And after two sub-par campaigns with the Whites, the player was their best player this past season. Rodrigo’s performance made him a clear standout at Elland Road as he scored 13 goals in the Premier League.
The Spaniard could not prevent Leeds United’s relegation from the Premier League. And with the Whites going down to the EFL Championship, the player is available for just €3.5 million. Such a situation has captured the attention of several clubs, with Real Madrid joining the race to sign him.
Real Madrid will delve into the market for multiple offensive reinforcements this summer. The Merengues have seen Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, and Mariano Diaz depart as free agents. So Real Madrid will look to overhaul the attack, with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes being the only remaining options.
Joselu is reportedly closing in on joining Real Madrid from Espanyol. But another relegated player has emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. And a price tag of €3.5 million makes Rodrigo an attractive option for Los Blancos. But signing the 32-year-old and Joselu will not be a sensible decision, considering they need to replace Benzema’s goals.
However, with Harry Kane reportedly closing in on joining Real Madrid, they will unlikely secure both Joselu and Rodrigo’s services. That said, it will be interesting to see if the 32-year-old Leeds United striker becomes a top target for Real Madrid this summer.
