Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies over the past year, and after a period of ‘quiet’, Los Blancos are moving for him again.
The 23-year-old Canadian left-back is out of contract next summer, and could be sold by Bayern this summer.
Bayern will look to do so if Davies does not accept their renewal offer that was made a number of weeks ago. According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have made fresh contacts with Davies this week, and are again moving to bring him in.
If Los Blancos do decide to bid for him this summer, they will not reach Bayern’s reported €50m demands for him, and instead will look to do a cut-price deal for him. They are aware that if Davies decides to leave, Bayern will have a weak negotiating position, and they will be Davies’ preference.
Whichever way the Davies deal goes, it could have an impact on Real Madrid’s defenders. Los Blancos are reportedly keen to renew Ferland Mendy, but the French defender is keeping a close eye on what happens with the Canadian, and has not responded to their interest. Equally, if Davies arrives and Mendy does not leave, Fran Garcia is likely to look for an exit this summer.
