Real Madrid centre-back Eder Militao is working hard in Br azil to complete his recovery from the serious cruciate ligament injury he suffered in August 2024.
After months on the sidelines, the Br azilian is now training on sand under the supervision of his personal physiotherapist, Romario Queiroz, and Jaime Salom, one of the club’s trusted medical professionals.
Militao’s main goal is to be in top shape for the FIFA Club World Cup, which starts this month.
He is scheduled to return to club duties on June 9 to begin full training under Xabi Alonso, who is now actively involved in Madrid’s pre-season programme.
The club has big plans for the competition, and Militao wants to be ready to make an immediate impact.
Militao’s absence has been deeply felt by both club and country. Real Madrid’s defensive numbers clearly highlight his importance, conceding just 0.94 goals per game with him on the field compared to 1.35 goals per game without him.
The Br azilian national team has also struggled, currently sitting fourth in the South American World Cup qualifiers.
They have conceded 16 goals in 14 matches, including a painful 4-1 defeat to rivals Argentina. It is clear that his presence and defensive quality are vital to both sides.
