Real Madrid captain Raúl has now drawn level with Pippo Inzaghi to become the all-time top scorer in UEFA club competition.
Raúl’s solitary strike for Los Merengues against BATE Borisov in last night’s Champions League clash was enough to launch the ‘Men In White’ into the knockout phase of the competition.
In the process, his seventh-minute goal also lifted him to the very top of the scoring charts in UEFA club competition with 64 goals, 62 of them in the Champions League alone, to join AC Milan predator Filippo Inzaghi as Europe’s all-time leading marksmen.
The 32 year old Madrid captain has now also extended his lead at the top of the UEFA Champions League goalscoring table, two strikes infront of his teammate, Ruud van Nistelrooy, six ahead of another AC Milan striker, Andriy Shevchenko, with no other current existing player close in sight.
