Reports in the Spanish press today claim that Real Madrid directors will meet this evening to decide whether or not to sign Antonio Valencia this winter.
The Real Madrid board of directors will meet this evening to decide whether or not to sign Antonio Valencia from Wigan, according to reports in Spain.
AS claims that Vicente Boluda will present the board with Juande Ramos’ request to sign a winger, namely Valencia.
At the moment it is not clear how the issue will be resolved as some members are believed to be in favour of the signing and others not.
Indeed, it is thought that the sports directors do not wish to sign him, seeing him as too expensive a buy, and would prefer a loan deal until the end of the season, if possible.
On the other hand, the executive powers at Real Madrid wish to sign him as soon as possible, believing that he would be a long term investment.
Also at the meeting, the board will discuss the issue of Champions League registration (more specifically that Lassana Diarra and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar cannot both play), and matters to do with the presidency.
It is thought that they will decide on a date for the Assembly to be held again and will also look at possible dates for the elections to be held.
If the board do decide to sign Valencia, then they will have to act quickly as the transfer window closes soon around Europe.
