Celta Vigo joined giants Real Madrid and Barcelona atop the Spanish Liga thanks to a last-minute 2-1 win Sunday at fourth-placed Villarreal.
Fabian Orellana gave Celta the lead just before half-time with a tremendous long-range drive. Things went from bad to worse for Villarreal when defender Eric Bailly earned a second yellow card for a needless handball four minutes after the interval.
Denis Suarez levelled for Villarreal in the 67th minute with a show which took a deflection off Celta defender Hugo Mallo, but Celta refused to settle for the draw and Spain striker Nolito made it 2-1 in stoppage time after another thunderbolt from Orellana had hit the Villarreal crossbar.
Celta are level on 18 points with Real and Barca, who caned Levante and Rayo Vallecano respectively Saturday. Villarreal are now two points behind the top three.
