Segunda Division B side Cádiz confirmed on Friday Real Madrid's disqualification from the Cop del Rey by a decision from the Royal Spanish Football Federation, or RFEF, after fielding suspended Russian player Denis Cheryshev during their match in round 32 of the competition last Wednesday, which Los Blanco won 3-1.
Cádiz said in a statement that it has received the decision of the competitions judge of the RFEF on Friday at 18:22, which stipulates that the club's appeal has been accepted against Real Madrid for fielding Cheryshev on Wednesday despite being booked on three occasions with his former club Villarreal during the last season.
Cádiz lamented the whole situation, claiming that it did not want to be the reason for the disqualification of a one of the biggest soccer organizations in the world.
Real Madrid will be granted a period to appeal the RFEF decision, after the club's president Florentino Pérez stressed on Thursday that he will resort to all legal means to prevent his club's elimination from the competition.
