Pepe ready to consider Chelsea transfer amid Real Madrid contract row

Real Madrid defender Pepe is reportedly ready to consider a free transfer to Chelsea as he eyes one more big move in his career.

The 33-year-old remains one of the top centre-backs in world football but is angered by Real’s current stance on his next contract with the club.

Pepe, who led Portugal to Euro 2016 glory over the summer, would like a two-year contract from the Spanish giants, but they are only willing to offer the veteran a deal for one more year.

Chelsea are admirers of the Portuguese hard-man and are exploring a number of options to strengthen their defence at the moment, including Paris Saint-Germain duo Thiago Silva and Presnel Kimpembe.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Blues could now snap up Pepe on a free as he could be prepared to talk to other clubs from January 1 onwards.

Pepe has been at the Bernabeu since 2007, winning two La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies in that time.
