Manchester City defeated Real Madrid in the Champions League last-16 first leg and Zinedine Zidane has been told what he did wrong.
Football legend Rivaldo has told Zinedine Zidane that he shouldn't have taken off winger Vinicius Junior in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.
City picked up an historic victory at the Bernabeu in the Champions League last-16 first leg on Wednesday thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne but they had to come from behind to do it.
While City controlled the game for the most part, Vinicius was a constant menace with his pace and skill down the left flank, and it was the young Br azilian who teed up Isco for the game's opening goal against the run of play.
The winger was easily Madrid's most threatening player on the night but was substituted on the 75th minute with Los Blancos in the lead. Just three minutes later City equalised.
Rivaldo believes that Vinicius' withdrawal played a key part in City's victory.
"Zinedine Zidane made a mistake by replacing Vinicius Junior when Madrid were still winning because the Br azilian was taking the game to City and relieving the pressure on Madrid's defence," the Br azilian told BetFair.
"He was playing well, and the team went backwards after he was withdrawn, allowing the Citizens to push forward and score two goals that could be decisive in the tie."
"For that reason, and despite Barcelona not being at their best, I believe the Catalans come into Sunday's game in better shape and more relaxed. Madrid are probably psychologically hurt after their midweek loss."
Vinicius will be available to play the return leg at the Etihad on March 17 after he escaped sanctions from UEFA for his comments on referee Daniele Orsato after the match.
