Spanish outfit Almeria will reportedly look to secure the services of Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Ideal, Mariano Diaz is the subject of interest from Almeria over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Rojiblancos La Unión Almeriensistas UDA Indálicos want to secure the services of the Real Madrid forward once Umar Sadiq completes his €30 million exit.
Mariano Diaz is currently in his second stint with Real Madrid, rejoining Los Blancos from Lyon in August 2018. The 28-year-old has since played second-fiddle to Karim Benzema while sharing game-time with Luka Jovic in the last few seasons. As a result, he managed only 399 minutes of game-time in the 2021/22 season across 11 appearances, scoring one goal and assisting another.
The player’s situation has generated widespread speculation around his future, with Real Madrid ready to offload him in the summer transfer window. With Carlo Ancelotti thinking about utilising Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio in a central role, Mariano is surplus to requirements at Real Madrid.
Recent reports have painted a conflicting picture about Mariano’s future, with some suggesting he is ready to leave Real Madrid. Others have claimed that he wants to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer transfer window as he wants to be Benzema’s backup in the new season.
But the reigning La Liga champions prefer to cash in on the 28-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract, in the summer transfer window. And Mariano might remain in Spain if he leaves Real Madrid, with Almeria keen on signing him this month.
The Rojiblancos La Unión Almeriensistas UDA Indálicos are losing Umar Sadiq this summer, with the club’s CEO Mohamed El Assy confirming the Nigerian striker’s €30 million departure. They will thus need to bring in a replacement for Sadiq, bringing Mariano into the Picture.
The 28-year-old has years of experience in La Liga, and he might be the catalyst to helping Almeria remain in the Spanish top flight beyond the 2022/23 season. But it is unclear if the Real Madrid forward is open to joining Almeria this month.
