Osasuna star fires shots at Barcelona, Real Madrid after defeat: “Super Cup is made for them”

Osasuna captain David Garcia has voiced his discontent towards refereeing decisions during his side’s 0-2 defeat at hands of Barcelona, saying that the official, Muniz Ruiz gave all the decisions in favour of the Blaugrana.

At the end of the match, Garcia’s expression revealed everything he felt – pain, anger, and pride. As the team captain, he stepped up to defend his teammates, expressing dissatisfaction over the foul that wasn’t called when Jose Arnaiz was fouled, leading to the 1-0 goal for Barcelona.

On the field, he was quick to confront Ruiz about Andreas Christensen’s actions, showing the same assertiveness he displayed during the game.

"In the first half, all the fouls that were called were in favour of Barcelona. I don’t know… It was very obvious, it was a clear foul," said the Osasuna captain as quoted by SPORT.

"I think overall we deserved more, I’m annoyed for everyone, the fans who came here and those who could not come and stayed back home."

Garcia was quite vocal about his assessment of the decisions made by the official, pointing out that even after Barcelona’s lead, an equal challenge was marked in favour of the Blaugrana, raising that the referee did not treat the two teams equally.

"For the other side, he does whistle. Coincidentally or not, he always opts for the same people, and I don’t want to be a populist, but three minutes after the goal he called an equal foul in favour of Barça."

"We had a good first half, they barely had any chances and we had two clear ones to make them. I think that in the global calculation, we have deserved more, but it was not to be."

Meanwhile, Garcia wasn’t the only Osasuna player speaking out like this. In fact, goalkeeper Sergio Herrera was even more direct and made a really surprising statement in public, saying that the Spanish Super Cup is made only for Barcelona and Real.

"The Super Cup is made for Barcelona and Real Madrid to play," said the frustrated Osasuna keeper after the match.
