If one were to point one a weak link in Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid team this season, Rodrygo Goes would come across as a tempting option.
Indeed, the player has not done much wrong this season but his poor output in the final third is one black spot in Los Blancos’ otherwise spotless season.
In 28 league appearances so far, the Br azilian has scored eight goals and provided five assists for the men in white. He has missed nine big chances and is underperforming his xG considerably.
Come next summer, Rodrygo is aware that his place in the starting XI is under massive threat. Kylian Mbappe’s arrival for starters, will push the youngster to the bench in all probability as the Frenchman is well-placed to join Vinicius Jr in the final third of Ancelotti’s 4-4-2 setup.
The arrival of Endrick only adds more competition. With his young compatriot also staking claim for a similar position on the field, his future in the team is under threat.
As revealed by SPORT, Rodrygo’s situation has understandably sparked rumours of a possible departure in June.
The Br azilian, however, is determined to fight it out for a place next season as he only considers succeeding in the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid will have a star-studded team next season after Mbappe’s arrival and will be favourites across all competitions they participate in.
Rodrygo is excited for the project that lies ahead, even if it comes at the cost of his current position in the starting lineup.
Ancelotti has always been a vocal admirer of the 23-year-old and has backed him several times this season during his press conferences.
Needless to say, he will have a role next season despite his poor run of form.
A Madridsta through and through, the Br azilian will fight till the very end until he succeeds in white. A departure, as it stands, is not even a remote possibility.
