Real Madrid could be open to selling forward who has lost his starting spot

Rodrygo’s position at Real Madrid is becoming increasingly precarious. With Arda Guler capitalising on the Br azilian’s dip in form, and with Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham locked in as key starters, the 24-year-old faces a serious threat to his future.

In fact, within the club, he is now seen as a potentially sellable asset, reports AS.

Once considered essential by current Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti, Rodrygo has gradually lost his role, with his stocks declining particularly in recent weeks.

The breaking point came during the Copa del Rey final at La Cartuja. Rodrygo started the match but was substituted at half-time for an unfit Mbappe, who briefly changed the game’s dynamic.

The decision underlined a broader trend: Rodrygo has scored just once in his last 21 appearances.

Following that final, illness sidelined him against Celta Vigo, but Guler seems to have already taken his spot in the starting eleven.

Indeed, Guler’s recent performances – particularly the balance and effectiveness he offers when deployed in midfield – makes the Br azilian’s path to regaining a starting role even harder, considering that Mbappe, Vinicius, and Bellingham are fixed starters.

Rodrygo’s situation is no longer just about form; it is now a strategic issue for both the player and the club.

He signed a contract extension until 2028, alongside Militao and Vinícius, but his current market value, estimated at €100 million by Transfermarkt, makes this summer the ideal time for a potential sale.

That valuation, however, has already dropped €10 million from earlier in the season and may decrease further by its next update post-season.

Even so, Rodrygo remains one of Madrid’s most valuable players and provides the club with an opportunity to rake in big sums of money, with interest coming from the Premier League.

Rodrygo, for his part, has shown signs of frustration and is said to be considering an exit. As such, his future at Real Madrid is more uncertain than ever, although much could depend on incoming new manager Xabi Alonso.
