Trent Alexander-Arnold could play his first game for Real Madrid later this month after completing his move from Liverpool, although he's already been hit with a ban by his new Club.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will not be able to take one of his prized possessions with him to Real Madrid, with the Spanish giant imposing a ban on its newest signing.
The former Liverpool vice-captain has of course completed his move to the Bernabeu, with an agreement having been confirmed last week. The Reds will receive around $13.5 million, with Real having bought him out of the final month of his contract in order for him to play at this summer’s Club World Cup.
Since then, he has been in Spain with the England squad ahead of the latest round of international fixtures, and even bumped into Los Blancos legend Roberto Carlos ahead of meeting his new teammates for the first time.
Alexander-Arnold’s first game for his new club could arrive soon, with Real facing Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in its opening game at the Club World Cup on June 18.
Before he’s even kicked a ball for his new club though, the former Liverpool star has been hit with a ban which means he won’t be able to bring something over from Merseyside.
Alexander-Arnold will be prevented from taking his $176,000 Range Rover with him to his new club due to Real’s sponsorship agreement with BMW. According to El Motor, the deal stops players from driving any other manufacturer’s cars to Real’s training ground.
BMW instead provides the club’s players with cars to use throughout the season, meaning Alexander-Arnold will get his hands on a new set of wheels upon his move to the Spanish capital.
The agreement includes plug-in hybrid and electric models, with the cars then being sold on as pre-owned models.
Alexander-Arnold may well choose to follow Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe’s lead, with the pair both opting for the BMW XM, which costs around $206M but will of course be given to the right-back for free.
The 26-year-old’s current car boasts a 4.4 V8 twin-turbo engine with 530 horsepower, and could reach 100kmh in 2.6 seconds, although it is no longer on the market.
Alexander-Arnold could next be in action when England takes on Andorra in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday, before hosting Senegal in a friendly on June 10.
