Real Madrid legend Pedja Mijatovic has advised his former club to sell Vinicius Junior this summer, while slamming the Br azilian winger for his on-field behaviour. The Selecao star came off the bench to contribute with a goal and an assist last weekend, as Los Blancos registered a comfortable 3-0 win over Real Oviedo in La Liga.
Xabi Alonso shuffled his starting lineup from their season opener against Osasuna, as he fielded Rodrygo in attack and benched Vinicius. The Spanish coach also dropped Trent Alexander-Arnold and handed Franco Mastantuono his first start for the club.
Kylian Mbappe starred with a brace, while Vinicius came off the bench in the second half to contribute with a goal and an assist as Madrid thrashed Oviedo 3-0 in La Liga. However, despite those heroics, former player and sporting director Mijatovic advised his former team to sell the Br azilian star as he did not approve of the winger's behaviour on the pitch.
Speaking to El Larguero, the 56-year-old said: "The Vini-Rodrygo competition can be good, but it can also cause problems for the coach. For now, Rodrygo is there and it's a good strategy for Xabi to keep everyone happy and alive.
"Some things don't change. It's not worth it. For me, this behaviour doesn't fit in with the Real Madrid shirt. He needs to motivate himself by fighting with everyone. He's an excellent player, but we have to evaluate whether it's worth it for him to be here."
Alonso's men will be back in action in La Liga this Saturday evening as they host Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu.
