Primera Liga reports

Brief reports of Primera Liga matches played on Sunday:


ATHLETIC BILBAO 1 ATLETICO MADRID 4


Bilbao fans called for the head of club president Fernando Lamikiz after this heavy defeat, which started in the 17th-minute when Atletico's Argentine forward Maxi Rodriguez struck the opener.


Bulgarian Martin Petrov scored Atletico's second from outside the area in the 37th and Argentine youngster Sergio Aguero added a third in the 64th with a fierce shot.


New signing Javier Martinez curled in a shot for Bilbao in the 86th, but in the final minute Aguero was tripped in the area and Luciano Galletti scored from the spot.


ESPANYOL 2 CELTA VIGO 1


Espanyol earned their first points with two goals in six second-half minutes.


Defender Moises Hurtado headed home a free kick in the 49th to put Espanyol ahead, but Celta's Uruguayan midfielder Fabian Canobbio equalised direct from a free kick three minutes later.


Home striker Raul Tamudo crossed for Jonatas to steer home the winner in the 55th minute.


OSASUNA 2 GIMNASTIC TARRAGONA 0


Cameroon striker Pierre Webo fired Osasuna in front with a looping 20-metre strike in the opening minute.


They had to wait until the end to make sure of their first win the season, however, when Nastic keeper Albano Bizarri fumbled a cross and the lurking Savo Milosevic pounced.


RACING SANTANDER 0 BARCELONA 3


Racing have yet to score this season but put Barca under pressure until their goalkeeper Tono misjudged Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o's shot in 18th minute.


Barca had to wait until the 84th before sealing the win when Ludovic Giuly jinked his way into the area to score the second.


Tono was sent off at the end for fouling Iceland's Eidur Gudjohnsen in the area and Ronaldinho converted the penalty.


REAL MADRID 2 REAL SOCIEDAD 0


Real laboured to create chances until the second half when Jose Antonio Reyes scored his first goal for the club with a curling free kick in the 69th minute.


Sociedad had midfielder Mikel Aranburu sent off four minutes later and Real secured the win with a breakaway goal at the end, when second-half substitute David Beckham ran the length of the pitch to score.


REAL ZARAGOZA 2 REAL MALLORCA 0


Mallorca were on the back foot from the 37th minute when Fernando Varela was sent off.


Zaragoza's Br azilian forward Ewerthon scored from Sergio Garcia's pass in the 58th minute, and Garcia tapped in from Argentine Andres D'Alessandro's cross 11 minutes from time.


RECREATIVO HUELVA 0 LEVANTE 1


Levante coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro staunched the flow of goals his side have been conceding to keep a clean sheet for the first time and they earned their first points of the season.


Defender Alexis headed home at a corner five minutes from time to condemn Recre to their first defeat in the battle between two promoted sides.


SEVILLA 3 REAL BETIS 2


Sevilla made it three wins from three with a pulsating victory over city rivals Betis.


Mali striker Frederic Kanoute put Sevilla ahead in the 26th minute after good work from Jesus Navas on the right, but Br azilian Rafael Sobis levelled for Betis capitalising on an error by David Castedo in the 40th.


Sobis poached a second in the 52nd minute but Kanoute equalised six minutes later from another Navas cross. Sevilla's Br azilian midfielder Renato wrapped up the win with a solo effort six minutes from time.


VALENCIA 2 GETAFE 0


Valencia striker Fernando Morientes continued his good run of form to become the first player to score against Getafe this season, netting with a header from Vicente's cross in the 45th minute.


Getafe created chances to level but Vicente was fouled in the area after 66 minutes and got up to take the penalty himself to end the visitors' hopes of a comeback.

DEPORTIVO CORUNA 2 VILLARREAL 0


An abrasive Deportivo were in command from the fourth minute when defender Joan Capdevila let fly with a long range shot that dipped under the bar.


Villarreal have yet to score this season and laboured to create chances until they upped the tempo in the second half forcing Depor goalkeeper Dudu Aouate into action.


But a 67th-minute free kick from Depor striker Riki found Capdevila free in the area and he scored from close range to make sure of the points.
