Primera Liga reports

Brief reports of Primera Liga matches played this weekend:

Played on Sunday:

ATLETICO MADRID 2 DEPORTIVO CORUNA 0

Argentine winger Luciano Galletti gave Atletico a flying start when he chested down a long pass, held off Joan Capdevila and rifled a shot under Depor goalkeeper Dudu Aouate just 38 seconds after kickoff.

Atletico dominated the rest of the match but could not rest easy until substitute Mista volleyed in from close range after Galletti clipped a great cross in from the right five minutes from time.

CELTA VIGO 1 ATHLETIC BILBAO 1

Fullback Angel put Celta ahead nine minutes before the break when he headed in a corner but the match swung Athletic's way when midfielder Pablo Garcia was sent off on 63 minutes.

Athletic equalised eight minutes later when Aritz Aduriz got a slight touch to a Fran Yeste free kick.

GETAFE 1 RECREATIVO HUELVA 1

Getafe's defence was breached at home for only the fourth time this season when Nigerian striker Ikechukwu Uche slid in at far post to score in the fourth minute.

Daniel Guiza levelled 20 minutes later when he headed in at the far post after Recreativo keeper Javier Lopez Vallejo had palmed a shot on to the bar.

GIMNASTIC 1 SEVILLA 0

Sevilla missed their chance to reclaim top spot after slipping to their first defeat in eight league games.

Former Real Madrid striker Javier Portillo earned struggling Gimnastic a deserved win 14 minutes from time when he got between two defenders to head home.

OSASUNA 1 VALENCIA 1

Valencia grabbed a late draw when substitute Fernando Morientes steered a header past keeper Ricardo after a fine cross from Portugal fullback Miguel two minutes into injury time.

Osasuna had taken a controversial lead 11 minutes before the break when skipper Patxi Punal netted a penalty given after Raul Garcia had thrown himself to the ground when he was touched on the shoulder by defender Emiliano Morretti.

RACING SANTANDER 1 ESPANYOL 1

Midfielder Albert Riera put Espanyol in front after six minutes but Racing equalised soon after, Ezequiel Garay blasting home his penalty after Pedro Munitis was fouled.

REAL BETIS 1 REAL ZARAGOZA 1

Argentine striker Diego Milito struck his 17th goal of the season, sweeping an unstoppable shot high into the net for Zaragoza midway through the first half.

Betis were gifted an equaliser on the stroke of halftime when Marcos Assuncao slammed home from the spot after Juanfran had impeded Juanito.

Betis midfielder Nano was sent off late on.

REAL SOCIEDAD 3 REAL MALLORCA 1

A much-needed victory for Sociedad, who had taken one point from their previous eight games.

Br azilian forward Savio put Sociedad ahead with his first goal since joining in January only to see Argentine playmaker Ariel Ibagaza cancel it out when he drilled in from 20 metres.

Darko Kovacevic found the net for the first time in nearly 18 months on the stroke of halftime and although the hosts had defender Mikel Gonzalez sent off 17 minutes from time, Xabi Prieto added a superb third goal in injury time.

Played on Saturday:

BARCELONA 3 REAL MADRID 3

Argentine teenager Lionel Messi denied Real their second league win at the Nou Camp in 24 years when he completed a hat-trick with a dramatic last-gasp goal.

Real struck first through Ruud van Nistelrooy before Messi levelled for Barcelona in the 11th minute.

Van Nistelrooy restored Real's lead from the penalty spot only to see Messi find the target once again in the 28th minute.

Barca had defender Oleguer sent off before the break and again fell behind when Sergio Ramos headed in on 73 minutes. But Messi wrapped up a virtuoso performance when he beat two players before firing home in the final minute.

LEVANTE 0 VILLARREAL 2

Goals from Uruguay striker Diego Forlan and Denmark international Jon Dahl Tomasson earned Villarreal victory at struggling Levante.

Forlan notched his eighth goal of the season when he curled a superb right-foot shot inside the far post in the ninth minute and Tomasson secured the win in the second half.
