Carlo Ancelotti confirms he will retire after the end of his spell at Real Madrid, but it could be after 2026.
The Italian tactician has recently signed a two-year contract extension with the La Liga giants, meaning he will remain in the Spanish capital until June 2026.
He had emerged as the leading candidate to take over Br azil’s national team in the 2024 Copa America and 2026 World Cup, but Carletto‘s priority was to stay in Madrid and he has fulfilled his desire.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, the 64-year-old confirmed the Merengues will be the last club of his coaching career.
"Yes, but it may not be in 2026," he told reporters, as quoted by Marca.
"Hopefully, I can stay until 2027 or 2028. I want to be a coach and I like Madrid. I was in contact with the President of the Br azilian federation and I appreciated his interest. It made me proud, but I was always clear about my situation with Real Madrid and it ended as I wanted: staying here."
Ancelotti has won the Champions League twice as a coach in Madrid, including the legendary Decima in 2013-14.
No coach has ever lifted the Cup With The Big Ears more times than Ancelotti (four, twice with Milan and twice with Madrid), but he is also the only coach to have won the domestic title in each of the top five European Leagues: Italy, Spain, England, Germany and France.
