Real Madrid striker Van Nistelrooy throws away crutches

Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has thrown away his crutches.

The Dutchman is now ready to start his recovery plan in earnest after undergoing knee surgery earlier this season.

Van Nistelrooy faces six or seven months of grueling rehab work after getting around on crutches since November. He met with Real medical staff yesterday and will kickoff his rehab with six weeks of work in the pool.
