Arsenal and Chelsea are hoping to lure Fernando
Gago in the summer.
The Argentine international is rated as one of the most exciting midfielders in La Liga, having joined Real Madrid from Boca Juniors in 2007 for over €20million.
The 22-year-old remains under contract at the Bernabeu, but he has hinted he may be willing to move on and try his luck in the Premier League or Serie A.
“I cannot play all my life in Madrid, but I still have a contract with the arrival of a new president anything could happen,” said
Gago. "I'd like to try other countries like Italy or England.”
Arsene Wenger would love to take
Gago to the Riverside Stadium, but Stamford Bridge chief Roman Abramovich is sure to challenge the Gunners if the player becomes available.
