Having scored some of the club's most decisive goals since arriving at Real Madrid, Gonzalo Higuain has grown into one of the Madridistas' favourite players.
But according to a report by Don Balon, the rapidly rising star will be sold this summer as Florentino Perez hopes to recoup some capital with the aim of bringing another Galactico to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Despite the obvious affection the fans hold for El Pipa, who scored crucial goals that kept Madrid in the Liga hunt three years ago, won the Liga title two years ago, and has delivered crucial strikes for the club in matches since - all on his way to finally being called up to the Argentinian national team, Florentino Perez is reported to want to sell the player for the simple reason that the player arrived at the club through the efforts of previous president Ramon Calderon.
Furthermore, certain rumours in the Spanish press have been trying to sell a narrative of a rift between Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo after the Lyon Champions League exit. Both players and the coach have denied any such disagreement.
The Madrid president is said to be looking to collect at least €40 million for the striker, who has been the team's leading scorer for the past two seasons.
