In a post-training press conference reported by Marca, Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos spoke about the Clasico defeat and what remains of La Liga, assuring that los Blancos would not give up on their quest for the league title.
"We will continue fighting because it would be a mistake to give up on La Liga. We are going to fight until the end. We're not going to gift the Liga title because there are 21 points left to claim."
Before training today, coach Manuel Pellegrini met with his team and Ramos revealed that the meeting served as time for los Blancos "to speak, reflect, and analyse the errors we made in the match.
"We did not believe the match was lost after the first goal. Barca took their chances and the little details made the difference "
As for Madrid, Ramos asked for time and patience.
"One should not forget that this is a new project and we need a bit of time to adapt and form a great team so that we can work with our style. This year we have shown that we can play good football "
"We need to learn from these high-stakes matches for the future. In the defeat against Lyon as well against Barca there have been many hard moments. Our difference with Barca is, in actuality, not that great, but if they win La Liga with 101 points, they deserve some credit "
Finally, Ramos showed his support for coach Manuel Pellegrini.
"We have always said that we support our coach and give everything for him, as he has done for us. Should he be retained? It is not my place to opine on such decisions. He is our coach and if he is next year, we would be delighted."
