Liverpool are reported to have agreed a deal in principle with Real Madrid for the signing of midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
The Croatian has slipped down the pecking order at the Bernabeu and has already been heavily linked with a move to England, with Tottenham also known to be in the hunt.
However reports in Spain now claim that the Reds are in the box seat to complete a deal after the player agreed to make the switch to Anfield before the closure of the transfer window.
It has also been suggested that any deal could hinge on the future of Philippe Coutinho, and Jurgen Klopp will only attempt to wrap up a deal for Kovacic if the Br azilian heads for Barcelona before the deadline.
Reports claim that Barcelona could be ready to throw the towel in and admit defeat in their attempts to land Coutinho, and if that is the case, it remains to be seen whether Klopp will still pursue a deal for Kovacic.
