Cristiano Ronaldo has had a meeting with Real Madrid supremo Florentino Perez over the future of Karim Benzema.
The Portuguese has told the bigwig that the striker cannot leave the Bernabeu.
Benzema has been criticised for his poor form at the start of the season and his display in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham in the Champions League earlier this week.
But Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Ronaldo met with Perez and told him in no uncertain terms the France international should not be sold.
The 32-year-old believes Benzema would be tough to replace and enjoys playing alongside him at Real.
Spurs ace Harry Kane has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu in recent days and if he were to sign he would likely replace the Frenchman.
But Ronaldo is desperate for Benzema to stay even if Real supporters might prefer him to leave.
The 29-year-old has scored just twice in his nine appearances in all competitions so far this season.
News of Ronaldo's meeting with Perez comes on the same day Arsenal bid for Benzema.
Don Balon say the Gunners are still interested in their long-term target.
Former Barcelona striker Gary Lineker doesn't agree with Ronaldo though and branded Benzema as overrated following Real’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham in the Champions League.
He tweeted: "Is it me or is Benzema a tad overrated?"
"A goal every other game in a team as strong as Real Madrid is nada especial."
