Real Madrid have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race for Chelsea winger Willian.
The Br azil international has been linked with a £60million move to Old Trafford but, according to Don Balon, his performances against Barcelona in the Champions League have made him a target for the Real Madrid.
It is claimed by the Spanish publication that Cristiano Ronaldo has asked Bernabeu bigwig Florentino Perez to speed up a swoop for Willian’s signature.
And Perez is reportedly desperate to beat United boss Jose Mourinho to the deal.
Willian has two-and-a-half seasons left on his contract with Chelsea but has been in and out of the starting XI under Antonio Conte.
He has edged Pedro out of the team in recent weeks and caught the eye against Barcelona.
Mourinho managed Willian during his second stint in charge of Chelsea and has reportedly been keeping tabs on his performances this season.
An Old Trafford source told The Sun: "Jose is still interested in him. The club had a sniff last year but Matic was the only possibility."
"He does not have long left on his contract."
But reports in Spain suggest Perez, who hired and fired Mourinho, fancies swooping.
Real Madrid’s president is annoyed by Mourinho’s interest in his own players, according to Don Balon, which is motivating his desire to win the race for Willian.
It is claimed that Perez believes the United boss is using the likes of Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Raphael Varane as part of his transfer mind-games.
And Perez is reportedly frustrated by his attempts to unsettle Kroos and Varane so he plans to firm up his interest in Willian to get revenge on Mourinho.
