Transfer rumours
Friday 12. April 2019 - 11:18

Real Madrid put '£113m price tag on Gareth Bale ahead of summer sale' and would be interested in swap deal with Manchester Unite

Real Madrid 'have decided to sell Gareth Bale this summer and will demand £113million for the Welshman'.

After six seasons and four Champions League successes at the Bernabeu, Bale looks set to move on and a return to the Premier League looks the most likely outcome.

And, according to Spanish newspaper AS, Real are confident one of England's big hitters will stump up their asking price.

Real believe the price for the 29-year-old is a fair one in the current market taking into account the transfer fees paid for the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Philippe Coutinho in recent years.

However, the Spanish club do expect potential suitors to try and haggle the price down once the transfer window opens.

Another issue in offloading Bale is his salary demands - the Welshman earns almost £26million a year before tax - and this limits the number of clubs he could potentially move to.

Therefore, Real would be open to a possible swap deal with AS reporting that an exchange for Manchester United's Paul Pogba, with Real paying a small sum on top, is an option.

Zinedine Zidane, who has recently returned for a second spell in charge, would love to sign the French midfielder.

Another potential exchange deal could be for Tottenham's Christian Eriksen if Bale wanted to return to his former club.

Bale has played 227 times for Real, scoring 102 goals, since joining from Spurs for a then world record transfer fee of £85.3m in September 2013.

He has won four Champions Leagues, the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, a Spanish Super Cup, three European Super Cups and four FIFA Club World Cups during his time in Spain.

However, he has also suffered 22 different injuries and has struggled to win the favour of the Bernabeu fans.
