Real Madrid sign Takefusa Kubo

He will play for Castilla next season.

Real Madrid have officially signed Japanese attacking midfielder Takefusa Kubo away from Tokyo FC, the club announced today.

Kubo just turned 18 years old but has already made his debut for the Japanese international team and is arguably the most promising player in Japanese football. He will play for Castilla next season as the team tries to achieve promotion to the Spanish Segunda Division.

Real Madrid will pay €2 million to sign Kubo and he will earn €1 million/year, according to a report from MARCA. Barcelona were trying to complete a deal for the young attacking midfielder but Madrid found a way to sign him first.

Kubo is obviously an intriguing prospect who should not have pressure from the fans. Real Madrid have found high quality players like Casemiro, Valverde or Fabinho in similar moves, but it’s clear that they will need to be patient for two or three season with the young midfielder.
